Macarthur Boulevard, 2006
This work was made as part of a project to document present-day MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland, CA. This road was once a major thorough-fair, but in the 60’s the structure known as Interstate-580 was constructed parallel to it, only two blocks away. Now a quieter business district, it is unique for its multicultural sleepiness- half way to a small town in a rural underworld far away. I took these images with a D-SLR, the prints are part of an installation at Mills College, each measures 16" x 20".
